Excellencies , ladies and gentlemen and dear friends:

I am deeply honored to be here today in this wonderful country of Japan and to be playing a part in this great event before such a distinguished audience and such world class musicians. Also, I would like to offer my great thanks to Keiko Borjeson and Hakan Borjeson who have given me this once in a lifetime opportunity of being here today among you.

I bring with me the warmest regards, so full of light and hope, from beautiful Greece and from the Greek people. I also bring greetings from Paris , France from my dear friend, who shares the same passion for the sea as I do, Mr Pierre-Yves Cousteau, the president of Cousteau Divers and Ambassador for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Pierre-Yves wrote the lyrics of BLUE LIQUID DREAM for Keiko Borjeson. He sends these words to you all today:

The Sea is more than what we see of it. It is the cradle of all life on Earth. The Sea nurtures and caters for us all, producing the oxygen we breathe and the fish we eat. The Sea is our mother, but look how we treat her. We must find balance with the Sea, for we shall not survive if she dies.

Also I bring with me greetings from the environmental company Submon from Barcelona ,Spain. Many thanks to Dr. Manel Gazo and Jordi Sanches who kindly created for us a wonderful film about the example of a healthy ocean after creating Marine Protected Areas.

Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, permit me a few comments about LA MER-MOTHER OF LIFE.

Mankind sprang from life in the sea, which means that all of us came from the oceans. The human race has a duty today and to future generations to save the oceans and their fish, because without fish and healthy oceans, the very existence of life on our planet would be under threat. It is partly because of my deep affinity with the sea and its creatures that I have dedicated so much of my art to the image of the fish.

Finally, I would like to say to the people of Japan that for you, after Fukushima, and for the people of Greece, with their economic crisis, we live through deeply difficult times, but with a shared destiny. I know that we will make it together and that we will go towards a life full of hope and joy.

One day, if you have the chance, you should come to our beautiful land of Greece and especially to the island of Naxos which I have made my home.

We are made for joy and goodness and now its Keiko’s turn to enrich us today, as she always does wherever she performs around the world, with happiness .

Thank you very much .
